"I think that having the album be called Plans, I think that the tone of so many of the songs is far more optimistic, and I think that you can’t really make plans unless you are optimistic; unless you have something to look forward to. You know, there’s a sense of optimism, kind of looking forward to something kind of larger than oneself on this record. And there are also some very dire songs about death, but I think that even those songs are dealt with in a certain way, a certain tenderness to them that I think justifies having the album be titled Plans. And I think that Transatlanticism for me personally was such like, it was like one long goodbye, and I wanted as much on this record to be some hellos on the record rather than a series of goodbyes."
